He was predeceased by: his parents, Emil Rother and Albina Rother (Smajstrala); his daughter Lorre Knebel; his daughter-in-law Kay Rother; and his brothers, Wilbert and Royce Rother.

He is survived by: his wife Mae Appelt; his son Rodney Rother; his son-in-law Randy Knebel; his brother Erwin Rother; his grandchildren, Allyce Rother Atwood (Bret), Kristine Knebel and Ryan Knebel; and his great grandchildren, Easton Atwood and Peyton Atwood. He is also survived by 4 nieces; and 3 nephews.
