He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothea Marlene Powell Ables; his parents, James Albert Ables and Emma Jane Taylor Ables; and his siblings, Bernice Stevenson, Bonnie King, Shirley Wallace, Dimple Deaton, Emma Mae Stewart, Savola Valenta, Warren Ables and Calvin Ables.
He is survived by: his sons, Robert Gary Ables (Janet), Mark Daniel Ables (Mary) and James Aaron Ables (Lana); his grandchildren, Julie Nicole Ables Waller (Matthew), Chase Alan Ables (Stephanie), Alyssa Lynn Ables Stringer (Robert), Eric Daniel Ables and Andrea Elizabeth Ables; and his great grandchild Levi Thomas Waller. He is also survived by His sons, daughters-in-laws, grandchildren, and great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Groveton or Oaklawn Baptist Church.
