She was predeceased by: her parents, John Weldon McCandless and Mary Mariah McCandless (Harris); her former husband J. W. Sims; her husband Robert Thurman; and her brother-in-law James E. Oswalt.
She is survived by: her sons, Jim (Sherry Sims) and Dennis (Jan Sims); her stepson Adam Collett (Sue) of Groesbeck; her grandchildren, Jeffery (Ginger Sims), Jennifer (Greg Scherbenske), Heather (Lucas Ramsey) and Trisha (Blaine Douglas); her great grandchildren, Jaryn Sims of Cypress, Kaitlyn Ramsey of Huntsville, Jillian Sims of Cypress, Emma Ramsey of Friendswood, Payton Scherbenske of Cypress, Stratton Douglas of Houston, Paisley Scherbenske of Cypress, Kerrington Douglas of Houston and Dagny Douglas of Houston; her sister Barbara; and her siblings-in-law, J. D. Stephens of Alvin and Gloria Oswalt of Lake Limestone.
