He was predeceased by: his parents, James Bruce Steed and Ollie Mae Bowen Steed; his siblings, Hazel Barker, Martha Wilcox, Deane Harlor and J. B. Steed; and his nephews, Dewey Wayne Barker, Ronnie Becknell and Mark Wilcox.
He is survived by: his wife Peggy Steed; his children, Jeff Steed of Greenville and Jill Schroeter (Brad Schroeter); his grandsons, Jakob of Richardson, Texas. and Jonathan Schroeter of Richardson, Texas.; and his nieces, Judy Gallatin of Irving, Linda Williams, Lana Dollgener of Greenville, Pam Steed of Gilmer, Deanna Hallam of Jasper and Vicki Miller of Sherman, Texas..
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Highland Terrace Baptist Church and the Greenville Christian School.
