He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Gehlsen and Josephine Gehlsen. He is survived by: his wife Rita (Freehill); his children, Steve Gehlsen, Paula Wade and Karen Allen; his grandchildren, Eddie, Emily, Jacob, Jacy, Caris and Josh; his stepgrandson Daniel Wade; and his siblings, Bob Gehlsen, Ritamarie Stafford (Dec'd), Rose Ann Jones, Bernadette Reagle, Joan Mullins and Carl Gehlsen, Jr. (Speed). He is also survived by his many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, November 3rd 2024 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Foust Funeral Home (523 S Main St, Grapevine, TX 76051). A funeral Mass was held on Monday, November 4th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church (861 Wildwood Ln, Grapevine, TX 76051). A reception was held on Monday, November 4th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location. A committal service was held on Tuesday, November 12th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 10:15 AM at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery (2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211).
