He is survived by: his former wife Geraldine Stout; his wife Roberta Shields; his children, Margaret Jennings, Pamela Haynes, Katherine Bennett, Gerald Shields and Charles Shields; and his stepdaughters, Ellen Webster, Dorothy Kegley and Rosie Martin. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren.
