He was predeceased by: his parents, Lazaro Chavez and Rebeca Lozano Chavez; his wife Enriqueta Arevalo Chavez; and his sons, Ricardo "Ricky" Chavez and Daniel "Chavo" Chavez.
He is survived by: his children, Gonzalo "Gus" Chavez, Jr. of Grand Prairie, Texas, Rene "Eddie" Chavez, Maria Chavez of Grand Prairie, Texas and Belinda Chavez of Lufkin, Texas. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, November 18th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the North Dallas Funeral Home (2710 Valley View Ln, Farmers Branch, TX 75234). A funeral service was held on Monday, November 18th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Monday, November 18th 2024 at 1:30 PM at the DFW National Cemetery (2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211).
