She was predeceased by: her parents, Edgar McCarty and Thelma Louis Lindley McCarty; her brother James McCarty; her nephew James Dudley, Jr.; and her niece Janice McCarty.

She is survived by: her husband Allen Burgess of Stanford, Texas; her stepson Al Burgess; her sister Janie Dudley (James, Sr.); her sister-in-law Polly Burgess Swearingen; and her nieces and nephews, Emily Dudley, Jessica Moore (Tyler), John McCarty (Terry), Jeff McCarty (Olivia), Joshua McCarty (Kylie), Jason McCarty (Lindsey), Jared McCarty, Kristen Spurlin (Kyle), Ethan McCarty, Jennifer Jacobs (Tim), Jaclin McCarty, Tiffany Saxon (Colton), Aden Moore and Trey Dudley.

In lieu of flowers her memory may be honored with a gift to the SPCA.
