He was predeceased by: his sons, Bill Mathis and Jeffery Mathis; and his daughter-in-law Sophia Mathis. He is survived by: his wife Pat Mathis of Graham; his sons, Bud Mathis (Kris), Mike Mathis, Mark Mathis (Georgia) and Randy Mathis (Sheila); and his siblings, Kenneth Mathis and Fay Mathis. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
