He was predeceased by: his parents, William Richard Nelson and Bertie Dee Nelson (Hill); his wife Muriel Nelson; his son Steve Nelson; and his brother Gordy Nelson.
He is survived by: his children, Mark Nelson of Goodrich, Scott Nelson (DaWanda) of Goodrich and Debbie Nelson Darwin (Todd) of Bayou Vista; his daughter-in-law Priss Nelson of Dripping Springs; his grandchildren, Kristell Nelson Carr (Michael), Josh Nelson (Katey), Sarah Dodd (JD), Melissa Reiss (Kyle), Magen Rutland (TJ), Mark Lovell (Araceli), Rachel Moreno, David Levingston (Carly), Mike Levingston (Erika), Claire Hahn (Matt), Nikki Moore (Brent) and Paige Layton (BeeJay); and his siblings, Lois Owen, Faye Landrum, Gloria Landrum, Linda Langston (James) and Bill Nelson (Kathy). He is also survived by 23 great-grandchildren.
