He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Lee and Frances Amanda McQueen Hughes; his wife Jo Ann Hughes; and his siblings, Bob Hughes, Francine Butler and Anna Joyce Owens.
He is survived by: his children, Ernest Hughes (Shubo) of Lindale and Jennifer Wigington (Shayne) of Mineola; his brothers, Mike Hughes (Joanna) of Golden and Sam Hughes (Madelyn) of Mineola; his sister-in-law Margie Hughes of Golden; his grandchildren, Morgan Kauble (Hayden) of Van, Reagan Wigington of Dallas and Jackson Hughes of Lindale; and his great grandchild Tate Kauble. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
