He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold E. Bentsen and Anne Bentsen (Carew); and his siblings, Barbara Quilty, Donald Bentsen and Lawrence Bentsen.

He is survived by: his wife Nancy Bentsen; his children, John Bentsen, Mark Bentsen (Christine) and Donna Cole (Preston); his grandchildren, Stephanie Starnes, Aaron Houzvicka, Ashley Ingram and John Cole; his great grandchildren, Kayson Ingram and Logan Starnes; and his siblings, Edward Bentsen (Ann Marie) and Eileen Bentsen. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Foundation or the American Cancer Society in memory of Harold Bentsen.
