He was predeceased by: his parents, Ronald Ackerman and Pauline Ackerman. He is survived by: his wife Reta Joyce Watson; his children, Denise (Dennis Kincaid), Tammy Kleeb, Cheryl (James Hopkins), Andrea Ferguson and Joe Hernandez; and his siblings, Pauline and Donald. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren.
