He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Ruthie Lea Weldon Goins and James Dewey Goins; his sisters, Dr. Paula Goins Bradley and Janet Goins Wilson; his brother-in-law Pete Wilson; his niece Misty Mayfield; his nephew Ken Wilson (Misty); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Emily Mayfield, Megan Phelps (Tre), Clint Wilson and Noah Wilson; his friends, C. B., Debbie Lum, David, Carla Caston, Ford, Gerald Boyt, Ernest and Tammy Claybrook; and also, Stetson Phelps, Winston Phelps, C. B. Lum, Rusty, Sam and Red.
The guitar he donated to Mt. Olivet Baptist Church will be played at his funeral by Mark Murphy.
