He was predeceased by: his parents, Jessie Guy Springer and Dora Louise Vickers; his wife Patricia Simmons; and his siblings, Margie Henderson, Joan Horton and Richard Springer.

He is survived by: his sons, Richard Daniel Springer, Victor Jones and Lane Springer; and his siblings, Carol Coons, Mary Whitehead, Linda Eaton, Eddie Springer, Donald Springer, Jessie Brady, Jean Hayes, Rebecca Ford, Dedee Smith, Debra Davenport, Mona Kelly, John Springer, Jimmy Springer, Joseph Springer and Jeri Cisneros. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
