With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Melvin Cleo Loyd of Gilmer, Texas, who passed away on October 1, 2022 at the age of 94. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his brother Mike Kessler (Bart Austin); his wife Bonnie Barnes Loyd; and his siblings, Oscar W. Loyd, Emory Loyd, Cantrell Loyd, Margie Carter, Delores Visage, Estelle Loyd and Arnell Loyd.
He is survived by: his children, Deborah Loyd Wisdom (Johnny W. Wisdom, Sr.) and Melvin Edward Loyd (Heather) of Gilmer; his granddaughter Hayley Carol Smithhart (Ryan Flener); his great grandchild Cleo Elise Flener of Austin, Texas; his sister Ouida Joy Davis; his sisters-in-law, Ann Loyd and Annette Loyd of Gilmer; his caregivers, Melanie Blanchard, Jessica, Pam, Rose, Carla and Judy; and also, Kailey Hall and Josh Marrs. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to First Baptist Church of Gilmer, the Sand Hill Cemetery fund or Sunset Memorial Park.
