It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mattie Lou Moore Caffey of Gilmer, Texas, who passed away on February 5, 2025, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. As we bid Mattie Lou Moore farewell, let us not mourn the absence of her physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of her spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Mattie Lou Moore is not truly gone, but merely transformed, her energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
She was predeceased by: her husband Melvin Caffey; her parents, Cecil Moore and Della Moore (Goodson); her nephew Billy Rex Gibbons; and her sisters, Viria Marie Phillips and Mary Ruth Gibbons Loftis.
She is survived by: her sister Claudene Boren (Ed); and her niece Sue Humphreys (Mike). She is also survived by nieces and nephews, and her special friends.
Viewing was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Croley Funeral Home - Gilmer (305 W Harrison St, Gilmer, TX 75644). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at the Crossroads Cemetery.
