He was predeceased by: his parents, William Taylor and Ava Maurine Dawson; his siblings, Jessie Maurine, Ruth Elizabeth, Donald Carroll and William Tarrence "Sam" Dawson; and his son Timothy Dawson.
He is survived by: his wife Diane Dawson; his children, Darrell Dawson, Terri Crawford and Jana Jones; and his brother Blanton Dawson. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
