He was predeceased by: his parents, Rudolph Pierce and Pauline Blackerby Pierce; his son Richard Pierce; and his sister Martha Chandler. He is survived by: his wife Bonnie Pierce; his children, Thomas Pierce (Kristy) and Jamie Hogue (Adam); his brother Larry Pierce (Diane); and his grandchildren, Jordan Pierce Hardy (Parker), Madison Pierce Segers (Hunter), Randi Pierce Davis (Robert), Raney Pierce Simcox (Michael), Ragan Pierce Caffey (Clint), Avery Hogue and Macey Hogue. He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at 2:00 PM at the McWhorter Funeral Home (1074 TX-300, Gilmer, TX 75645).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to one of the many charities dear to James' heart.
