We bid farewell to Gene Weldon Lawler of Gilmer, Texas, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on February 9, 2025 at the age of 96. Gene Weldon touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his parents, Sim Roper Lawler and Velma O'Letha Adams; his wife Sarah Jeanelle Shields; his son Daniel O'thel Lawler; and his brothers, Aubrey O'thel Lawler, James Richard Lawler and Billy Joe Lawler.
He is survived by: his stepfather Dan Norwood; and his daughters, Nelda (Dave Preston), Norma (Bobby Melton) and Peggy (John Troublefield). He is also survived by eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren and many other beloved family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 1st 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Croley Funeral Home - Gilmer (305 W Harrison St, Gilmer, TX 75644). A burial will be held on Saturday, March 1st 2025 at the Sunset Memorial Park (1582 US Hwy 271 S, Gilmer, TX 75644).
Gene was a proud member of Faith Masonic Lodge, 1158 where he upheld the principles of brotherhood, charity, and integrity.
