He was predeceased by: his parents, Tilman Lafayette and Lonnie Elizabeth Kizer; and his siblings, Jerry Kizer, Frank Kizer, James Kizer, Joe Kizer, Florence Childress, Wanda Clifton and Linda Kizer Hennen.
He is survived by: his children, Jaynice Thomas and David Dewayne Kizer, Sr.; his brother Robert Kizer; his grandchildren, David Dewayne Kizer, Jr., Dakota Kizer, Dillon Kizer, Caidon Thomas, Christina Thomas and Marissa Thomas; and his great grandchild Aurora Kizer. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
