He was predeceased by: his parents, Cleothus Kirksey Thornton and Clara Elizabeth Cruse Thornton. He is survived by: his wife Kaye Thornton; and his children, David Carter Thornton, Keith Wayne Dunn, Arvin Leon Thornton Jr. and Stephanie Elizabeth Puryear (Thornton). He is also survived by many grandchildren; great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
