He was predeceased by: his parents, Norbert Matthijetz and Freida Matthijetz (Duisberg); his in-laws, Herbert and Irene Moerbe; and his siblings-in-law, Dorothy "Jane" and Joe Orts.
He is survived by: his wife Judy Matthijetz of Giddings; his children, Sharon (Ricky Proske) and Douglas (Inez Matthijetz); his grandchildren, Sara (Bruce Prellop), Christopher Proske of Giddings, Marisa (Brooks Kasper) and Isaac Matthijetz of Corpus Christi; his great grandchild Hattie Mae Prellop of Giddings; his sister Ruth; his brother-in-law Richard Sessions of Orange; his brother David; and his sister-in-law Judy Matthijetz of Giddings. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, October 23rd 2024 from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, October 24th 2024 from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM at the Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home - Giddings (3950 E Austin St, Giddings, TX 78942). A funeral service was held on Thursday, October 24th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church Train Up a Child Fund or to the charity of one's choice.
