It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of David Elliott Hooper of Georgetown, Texas, who passed away on May 28, 2023, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Doris Hooper and Raymond Hooper; his brother Paul (Kathy); and his grandson Ethan. He is survived by: his wife Martha; his stepchildren, Sara Hufford and Warren Hufford; his daughter Suzanne Hooper (Cynthia Slachta); and his grandchildren, Kathleen Slachta (Jennifer Kash), Elle Slachta, Grace Slachta, Mick Slachta, Bryce Kash, Bradley Hufford, Aron Hufford and Haley Hufford.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Race Track Chaplaincy of America (http://www.rtcanational.org) or the American Cancer Society.

“Dave hired me for my first job in the horse racing industry. While I was a student in the RTIP, Dave was the Executive Secretary of the Illinois Racing Board & he gave me the Asst. State Steward job at Fp. I've worked in the industry almost forty years accomplishing so many memorable things. I was a racing official for many years becoming the racing secretary at seven tracks including CD & GP. After that I was a jockey agent for 14 years winning 7 BC's, 2 KY Oaks and a Ky Derby. RIP Dave & Ty!”
