He was predeceased by: his parents, Patricio Zavala and Apolinaria Zavala; his daughter Mary Esther; his siblings, Juan C. Zavala, Ramon Rodriguez, Antonia C. Zavala, Manuela Z. Hernandez and Andrea Torres; and his child Jessie.

He is survived by: his wife Sandy M. Zavala; his children, Janie Zavala, Gregory Zavala and Mary Alice Zavala; and his siblings, Guadalupe Z. Lucio, Guadalupe R. Garcia, Alfonso C. Zavala and Felipe C. Rodriguez. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 12 great great grandchildren.
