He was predeceased by: his parents, J. E. Bowden and Juanita Bowden (Connie Bowden); his sister Shirley Hammond; his son Ricky Bowden; his son-in-law Steve Seay; and his brother-in-law Dan Townsend.
He is survived by: his sisters, Betty Bartz (Don) and Camille Townsend; his daughter Lisa Kay Morrow (Pat); his stepchildren, Jody Bateman (Melissa), Wendy Cardenas (Jesse) and Shelley Peraza (Rafael); and his grandchildren, Amanda, Chris, Meagan, Jacob, Bobby John (BJ), Tyler, Kayla, Michael, Victoria, Carter, Canen, Austin, Tucker, Cortlyn, Joshua, Kaitlin, Tristan, Jadyn, Crimsen and Zoey.
He is the inventor of the "Wild Cat" horizontal driller and made significant contributions to the oil industry.
