He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrea Valle Salinas and Francisco Salinas; and his brothers, Francisco "Frank" Salinas Jr. and Marcial Guajardo. He is survived by: his wife Viola Salinas; his daughter Erica De La Cruz (Homer); his grandchildren, Caiden Salinas of George West, Henslie De La Cruz of George West and Homer "Tres" De La Cruz III of George West; and his siblings, Manuel Salinas (Brenda) of San Antonio, Maria Keylich (Carl) of George West, Odilia Salazar (Juan) of Three Rivers, Amelia Cortez (Gilbert) of George West and Oralia Salinas (Santana Paiz) of George West. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to "Big Lou's Cooking Crew" at Texas Champion Bank in George West.
