He was predeceased by: his parents, Jose M. Perez and Porfiria Perez (Martinez); his brother Rodney Jeffrey Perez; and his sons, Joe Ray Perez, Ricky Perez (Emma), Raymond Perez (Connie) of San Angelo, Sammy Perez (Kim) of Corpus Christi and Adam Perez of Houston.

He is survived by: his wife Maria E. Perez of George West; and his siblings, Martin David Perez of Victoria, Mike Perez of Beeville, Felipa Perez of El Campo, Maria Garza of Arcadia and Anna Bell Castillo of San Angelo. He is also survived by five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
