He was predeceased by: his parents, Laura Ethel Howard Alvis and Rice Gambrell Alvis Sr.; and his siblings, Rice Gambrell Alvis Jr., Howard Alvis and Cecelia Ann Strahan Patton.
He is survived by: his wife Geneva Ann Franklin; his child Berry Alvis (Elizabeth) of Lubbock; his sister Ethel Ruth Mock of Seffner; and his siblings-in-law, Lena Rueffer Alvis of Haltom City and Philip Patton of Naple. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.
