He was predeceased by: his parents, Jimmy Courtney and Hilda Courtney; and his sisters, Penny Wade and Jennifer McKinney. He is survived by: his wife Karen Courtney; his children, Kassi Phillips (Seth) and Barton Courtney (Mikayla); his grandchildren, Parker and Baylor; and his sister Vickie Yarbrough (Allan). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Scott's Funeral Home (2425 E Main St, Gatesville, TX 76528). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 11th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Gatesville Church of Christ (2417 E Main St, Gatesville, TX 76528). A burial was held on Saturday, January 11th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Rosemound Cemetery (3201 S 12th St, Waco, TX 76706).
