He is survived by: his wife Doris Butcher Downing of Gary; his children, Terri Lynn Brown of Osawatomie, Teresa Ann Myers of Osawatomie, Shelia Ann Bolling of Osawatomie, Marilynn Sue Harrison of Deadwood and Rodney Lynn Downing Jr. of Gary; his stepchildren, Belinda Hughes of Ft. Worth, Marie Robinson (Michael) of Denton, Deanne Williams (Dallas) of Joshua, Beth Downing (Nicholas) of Gary, Jason, Jamie Calhoun, Shella Stotts, Ryan McKinley, Regina Heiman (James) and Jonathan Brimer; and his siblings, Jimmie (Cathy Downing) of Gary, Billy Wayne (Debra Downing) of Gary and Mary Sue (Lanny Kiper) of Carthage. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandkids, and great grandkids.
