He was predeceased by: his parents, Cyril John and Sophie Marie Buzek Shimek; his wife Edna Korenek Shimek; his sisters, Lydia Schoellmann, Leona Joseph Barrera and Martha Ott; his children-in-law, Gary Cerny and Anna Shimek; and his grandson Marvin Shimek.
He is survived by: his children, Judy Janecka (Joe) of Richmond, TX, Victor Shimek (Debora) of Nada, TX, Dianne Cerny of El Campo, TX, Jo Ann Shimek of El Campo, TX, Bruno Shimek (Christine) of Bryan, TX, Allen Shimek (Monica) of El Campo, TX, David Shimek (Michelle) of College Station, TX and Sharon Streger (Matt) of New Braunfels, TX; his grandchildren, Jennifer Janecka Frnka (Greg), Joseph Janecka (Zola), Justin Janecka, Mathew Shimek, Kevin Shimek, Luke Shimek (Katherine), Adrian Shimek (Victoria Baltazar), Laura Cerny Dorotik (Trent), Kristi Cerny Walton (Kyle), Kara Cerny McClung (Michael), Garrett Cerny (Kimberly), Elizabeth Shimek, Wesley Shimek (Emily), Brandon Shimek, Alannah Camunag (Ian), Brooklyn Webster, Chase Shimek (Kelsey), Cade Shimek (Ashley), Breanne Crow (James), Hagen Jenkins, Brock Jenkins, Samantha Streger, Nathan Streger (Jennifer) and Andrea Streger; and his sister Ella Mae Merta (Charlie). He is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren.
Face masks are encouraged for the visitation and funeral.
