He was predeceased by: his parents, Dorothy Rees and Boyd Rees; and his brother Timothy Rees. He is survived by: his children, Bryan Rees and Dyana Hivnor (Derek); his grandchildren, Mason and Reagan Hivnor; the mother of his children Karen Rees; his siblings, William "Bill" Rees, Tanya Bolog (Richard) and Denice Fischer (Bill); and his caregiver Heather.
