He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Velentin Maldonado and Gilberta Velasquez; his wife Maria Alicia Velasquez; his children, Erlix, Jose, Elvira, Daniel and David; his siblings, Hilaria, Marta, Dora, Antonio, Nina, Rosa, Marina, Cristino, Lilian, Blanca and Santos; and his grandchildren, Kaylah, Emily, Sofia, Jose, Nicole, Angel, Lucia, Aaron and Roman.

Visitation was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Williams Memorial Chapel (1600 S Garland Ave, Garland, TX 75040). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM at the same location. A memorial service was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM at the Garland Memorial Park (1600 S Garland Ave, Garland, TX 75040).
