With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Juanita Mejia of Galveston, Texas, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 18, 2025 at the age of 102. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband Louis Mejia Sr.; and her daughters, Anita (Lazaro Bernal) and Emily (Conrad Bautista). She is survived by: her children, Jesse Barrera (Theresa), Louis Mejia Jr. (late Cindy Mejia), Andrew Mejia (late Dawn Mejia), Mary Piérce (Benny Sandino), Olga Tabares (late Joe Tabares), Dorothy Alvarez (late Ramon Alvarez), Annie Wells, Juan Alviar, Maria Abarca and Brenda Guerra (Gil). She is also survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Carnes Brothers Funeral Home (1201 23rd St, Galveston, TX 77550). A rosary will be held on Thursday, February 27th 2025 at 6:30 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 28th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Patrick Catholic Church (1021 34th St, Galveston, TX 77550). A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 28th 2025 at the Calvary Cemetery (2506 65th St, Galveston, TX 77551).
