He was predeceased by: his parents, Giuseppe Smecca and Franca Smecca; his siblings, Antonio "Tony" Smecca, Giuseppina Campagnola and Lia Russello; and his nephew Gilbert Barham.
He is survived by: his nephew Franco; his wife Ellen Moon Smecca; his children, Franca Smecca (Shane Snider), Marisa Rojas (David), Giovanna Buckley (Ross) and Giovanni Smecca (Rocio); his grandchildren, David Lee Rojas, Ellen Snider (Alexander), Liam Snider, Destiny Buckley, Grant Corbello, Liberty Snider (Bruce), Caitie Buckley, Dante Buckley, Jude Buckley, Gianna Rojas, Santino and Julian Smecca; and his sister-in-law Nilde Smecca. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
