She was predeceased by: her parents, Michael Szanyi and Helen Szanyi; and her brother William Szanyi (Bill). She is survived by: her children, Howard E. "Gene" Nelson Jr. (Carolyn) and Sharon K. Trachtenberg (Gregor); her grandchildren, Brooke Nelson, Nicholas Trachtenberg (Jasmin) and Alexa Rose Trachtenberg; and her brother Gregory C. Szanyi (Cindy).
