He was predeceased by: his daughter Tracy Ferree; and his mother Theola Peterson. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Wheeler of Gainesville; his sons, Jason Wheeler (Kaylene) of Plainview and Kevin Wheeler (Lauren) of Gainesville; his son-in-law Kelly Ferree of Houston; and his sister-in-law Linda Trimmier of Lubbock. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; three great-granddaughters.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choosing.
