He is survived by: his wife Lydia Rivera Vela; his daughters, Rachel Vela Naae (Jared) and Erica Marie Vela Garza (Christopher); his granddaughter Makayla Marie Garza; and his siblings, Ernesto Vela (Maruja), Eva Vela Lozano (Gilbert) and Irma Vela Martinez (Jesse). He is also survived by extended family and friends.
