He was predeceased by: his mother Alice Mathews; his grandparents, Joe and Hilda Mathews; his aunt Anna Hair (Winfred); and his uncles, Leroy, Weldon Nail and John Kennedy.
He is survived by: his sons, Joseph Mathews (Marcy) and Josh Mathews (Mandy); his uncle Jack Mathews (Frances); and his aunts, Juanita Norton (Ray), Gladys Kennedy, Betty Nail, Billie Balzer and Mary Dugger.
