Ronald Ancker Obituary
Ronald “Ron” Gilbert Ancker was born in Brooklyn, NY, April 14, 1922, to parents Freda (Pederson) and Henrek Ancker, and grew up in the Bronx, NY. In 1942, he entered the US Army Air Forces and was stationed in England during WWII where he was part of the Eighth Air Force 390th Bomb Group.
He met and married his wife Doris there, returning to the States after the war, where he started his family and embarked upon his career. They resided and raised their children in New Jersey, then spent many happy years in Florida, finally settling in Texas for their later years.
Ron worked for Chase Manhattan Bank from 1941 – 1982, during which time he attained his graduate degree from the Rutgers College of Banking and served as an officer and VP of multiple divisions until his retirement.
He was a great lover of travel. He and Doris particularly enjoyed travelling the US visiting its national parks, as well as regularly returning to England for extended visits. Ron was an avid reader, a history enthusiast, a lover of baseball, playing cards and spending time visiting family.
Ron recently celebrated his 100th birthday where he was surrounded by his family and friends. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 77 years, Doris Evelyn Ancker, his four sons, Ralph Ancker, Robert Ancker, Bradley Ancker and Douglas Ancker; daughters in law Ruth Ancker and Lynn Ancker; eight grandchildren, David (Jennifer) Ancker, Stacey Ancker, Keirsten (Douglas) Eberhart, Jeffrey Ancker, Danielle (Brian) Sims, Kaitlyn (Collin) Boling, Ashley (Paul) Hodges and Jason Ancker; and four great-grandchildren, Rylee and Brynn Eberhart and Emersyn and Blakely Hodges.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at 11:00AM at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211.
