He was predeceased by: his mother Sarah Opal Haught McCance; his wife Ruth Julia Seymour McCance; his son-in-law Russell Shaffer; his daughter Cheryl McCance Kennedy; his father James Robert McCance; the mother of his child Sarah Opal Haught McCance; and his sister Helen Louise McCance Bunting.

He is survived by: his children, Linda McCance Shaffer and Richard McCance Jr. (Marsha); his grandchildren, Lashelle Shaffer Jennings (Steve), Stephanie Shaffer Bilton (Guy), Kimberly McCance Christian (Paul), Melissa McCance, Dustin McCance (Paige), Jeremy Kennedy, Nicholas Kennedy and Paige Kennedy; his niece Amy Bunting Grogan; and his nephews, Brad Bunting and Jim Bunting. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren.
