He was predeceased by: his parents, William Park (Francis Van Steen) and New Hyde Park; his son Jeffrey Van Steen; and his siblings, Helene MacPherson and William Van Steen.

He is survived by: his wife Edie (German); his children, Linda Exceli of Frisco, Texas and Stewart Van Steen of Chicago, Illinois; his grandchildren, Christopher, Kymberly and Elke; and his sister Christina Giordano of Albany. He is also survived by six great grandchildren.
