Karen L. Murphy Obituary

Karen Murphy of Frisco, Texas, passed away on Sunday, February 6th. She is survived by her faithful husband and best friend, Brian Murphy. Brian and Karen would have celebrated their 55th anniversary on February 18th.

Karen was blessed to have five children, fourteen grandchildren, and five great grandchildren all of whom have survived her.

Born in Boulder, Colorado, she and her family moved to the Dayton, Ohio, area at a young age. It was there that she met and married Brian. During their time together, they lived in the Chicago area, Baton Rouge and then Lafayette, Louisiana. She became a Texan by choice in 1981 with a move to Plano, then Dallas and finally finding her true home in Frisco in 2006.

She worked for Richardson ISD and then retired from Frisco ISD. Following retirement in 2010, Karen was a volunteer with the Red Cross as part of their Disaster Assessment Team for many years.

During most of her adult life, Karen was very active in politics. After moving to Frisco, she worked for many candidates at the local and state level. She was a member of the Republican Woman's Club.

Karen was a strong believer in the Second Amendment. She held a License to Carry and was a member of the Texas State Rifle Association, the Texas Concealed Carry Association, the NRA and the United States Concealed Carry Association. In addition, she was active with the Dallas Arms Collectors Club and a member of Frisco Gun Club.

Karen was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease a few years ago. She was determined to not let it keep her from enjoying time with her husband, family, and friends. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation through her Alzheimer's tribute page using the following link http://act.alz.org. A Celebration of Life event will be held next month in Frisco, more details are forth coming.

She will be missed. When you think of her, remember….
