He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Andrew Merritt, Jr. (Snooks) and Mildred Bethenia Jackson Merritt. He is survived by: his former wife Sherlon Tipton; his children, Joanna Marie and Stephen Hugh; his siblings, Gilbert Ray Merritt and Nancy Ballard Merritt; his wife Francis Katherine Merritt; his sons, Thomas Merritt (Virginia) of Blanco, Texas, Mark Petchinsky, Safiye of Bulverde, Texas and Terry Petchinsky (Joann) of Lewisville; and his grandchildren, Joanna Merritt Foster (Perry) of Amarillo, Texas., Brandy Dodson, Keylin Merritt, Casey Merritt Jonathan Merritt, Harlea Merritt, Alex Palos, Matthew Petchinsky, Kerim Petchinsky, Melih Ucok, Julia Koch, Abby Searle, Brittney Foster and Brandon Foster. He is also survived by 14 Great Grandchildren, many nieces and one nephew.
