He is survived by: his wife Salustia Mata (Lucha); his sons, Jose Xavier Mata and James Mata; his daughter-in-law Viridiana S. Mata; his grandchildren, Aliana I. Mata, Xavier A. Mata, Jorge M. Mata and Jovani X. Mata; his siblings, Leticia Pena Mata, Julia Hernandez Mata and Juan Mata Jr.; his nephews, Edwin Pena Mata, Karlos Mata, John V. Hernandez, Juan Jose and Pena Mata; his son Jorge Alberto Mata; and also Anthony Madrigal.
