He was predeceased by: his parents, Reinhold Herbort and Anita Lorenz Herbort; and his sister Verdie Feller. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Herbort of Fredericksburg, Three; his children, Donna (Bruce Stottlemeyer), Richard (Carolyn Herbort) and David (Tina Herbort); and his brothers, Alton (Doris Herbort), Dalton (Annette Herbort) and Along. He is also survived by Six Grandchildren and eight Great Grandchildren.
