He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Cortez and Herminia Palomino Cortez; and his siblings, Alice Salinas, Liz Castillo and Arnold Cortez.
He is survived by: his daughter Ariana Mendez; and his siblings, Vera Sanchez of Kerrville, Albert Cortez of Fredericksburg, Teresa Guajardo (Alex) of Fredericksburg and Tony Cortez of Fredericksburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to Fredericksburg Volunteer Fire Department or the charity of one's choice.
