She was predeceased by: her parents, Lector Henderson and Mae Glaze; her husband H. E. Melton; her daughter Genelda Scheideman; her granddaughter Rebecca Bryans; and her sisters, Elaine Griffin, Frankie Buchanan and Maxine Wheeler.
She is survived by: her children, Renee Herrin of Rowlett and Frank Melton (Thressa) of Frankston; her brothers, Harold Henderson (Betty) of Bullard and Ronnie Henderson (Pat) of Frankston; and her grandchildren, James Herrin (Mallory), Chris Herrin (Bethany), Ricky Hunt (Jessica), Kerry Hunt (Annie) and Brittany Nash. She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
