He is survived by: his children, Shellene Newell Audu (Ambrose) of Arlington, TX, Gary Newell Sr. of Houston, TX and John Henry Newell Jr. of Baton Rouge, LA; his stepson Gregory C. Eakins Sr. (Dejohnetten) of Fayette, MS; his close friend Matlean Birklett of Houston, TX; and his siblings, David Lee Murray (Cathy), Bobby Murray, Isaac Murray of Meridian, MS and Debra Thomas of Meridian, MS. He is also survived by five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
